Meet Dr Kristian van Mourik

Dr Kristian van Mourik is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who specialises in diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of conditions affecting the teeth, jaws, head and neck.

Dr Kristian van Mourik’s 16 years of study and training are matched by more than a decade of private surgical practice.
He completed both his dental and medical degrees at the University of Sydney, where he was awarded three University Medals:

  • Dux of Dentistry
  • Dean’s List of High Achievers
  • Doctor of Medicine Scholarship

He was then selected for a four-year postgraduate program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, one of only two Craniofacial Centres of Excellence in the world, where he trained under the renowned Professor David David AC.

Dr van Mourik has also had the privilege of learning from some of the most respected leaders in corrective jaw surgery, including Dr Gwen Swennen and Dr Johan Reyneke. Today, he is recognised as a meticulous and highly trusted surgeon, as well as a sought-after educator who runs Oral Surgery courses for dental professionals.

Outside of the operating theatre, Dr van Mourik enjoys cycling, fine wines, and spending time with his wife Grace and their three children.

Once oral and maxillofacial surgeons complete their training, they are awarded the letters FRACDS (OMS). FRACDS stands for Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. OMS stands for Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon.
